The Jeep Meridian uses the same 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine as the Compass. Jeep has not tweaked it for additional power or torque. Hence, the four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine continues to make 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The Meridian is available with two transmission options – a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque converter automatic. The SUV gets both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains. Unlike the Compass, the FWD drivetrain is also available with the automatic gearbox. Though the 4×4 is only available with the 9-speed automatic.
The 7-seater SUV is much longer and larger than its sibling, Compass. The Meridian measures 4769 mm in length, 1859 mm in width and 1698 mm in height. The long wheelbase of 2782 mm also offers additional interior space. Even with all the seats up, the Meridian offers a boot space of 170-litres. With the last row of seats folded down, the boot space increases to 481-litres. In addition to this, the SUV also gets a storage bin space of 31-litres in the interiors.
