Last year Hyundai teased the new Elantra in the N Performance avatar. At the time, Hyundai posted a camouflaged image of the Elantra N. Now, the brand has again teased the Elantra N showcasing the sides and alloy wheels of the performance-oriented saloon. Hyundai’s N division brings full performance capability, unlike the N-Line models, which only add performance-inspired elements to the base model.
The Hyundai Elantra N features the sculpted’‘Parametric Dynamics’’ design theme similar to the all-new Elantra model launched in April 2020. But boffins at the Hyundai N division took cues from the curves and lines, giving the N model a powerful and athletic stance. As a result, the new design renders high-performance sportiness in the sedan and the practicality of an everyday car.
The Elantra N features bright red N dedicated side sills that enhance the looks of the car and improve the sedan’s performance by channeling airflow. The side sills and the bumper lips also give the Elantra N a lowered chassis. The performance-oriented sedan also comes with a unique N-exclusive rear spoiler that helps counteract lift, increasing the vehicle’s stability at high speeds. Additionally, the car also features a bold black trim below the rear bumper and dual exhaust outlets, distinguishing the performance car from the standard.
Hyundai has not revealed the details of the powertrain yet. But speculations are that the Elantra N will come with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The engine is likely to be borrowed from the Veloster N. The engine makes around 280 PS of power on the Veloster N. The motor could come with a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed DCT automatic. This will allow the sedan to sprint from 0-100 kmph under 6 seconds. The engine will also be capable of propelling the car to a top speed of 250 kmph.
Hyundai has also confirmed that the brand will reveal more details on the Elantra N in the coming weeks.
