Hyundai is planning to bring a mid-life update to the Creta next year. Images of the facelift model have emerged on the internet, testing in the home market. Looking at the images, it is clear that the new Creta will draw inspiration from the Hyundai Tucson that was revealed last year in the international market.
The 2022 Hyundai Creta is likely to come with a front fascia similar to the new Hyundai Tucson. The new design features Hyundai’s ‘Parametric Dynamics’ design philosophy. The front apron features the new ‘Parametric Grille’ with ‘Parametric Hidden Lights’ that hides the DRLs when the light is turned off. The apron also integrates the headlamps within the bumper in a stacked fashion within a trapezoidal housing. The front fascia also includes a sleek air dam to aid engine and brake component cooling.
While the front fascia is similar to the Hyundai Tucson/Santacruz pick-up, the tail section and roofline will be similar to the current-gen model. The brand is also likely to use the same cabin and interior equipment on the 2022 Hyundai Creta. But images of the rear and the interiors are still not available, and it will be unfair to hypothesize on this at this point. But the brand is likely to add some more features to the facelift.
Speculation is that the Hyundai Creta will come with a new mild-hybrid powertrain. This will allow Hyundai Creta to stay relevant to the upcoming emission norms. The brand already offers several engine options in both the Indian and international markets. The engines are available in both petrol and diesel powertrains paired with many gearbox options.
In the Indian market, the Creta comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine options. The petrol and diesel engines also come with manual and automatic transmission along with a dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with the turbo-petrol model.
Expect the 2022 Hyundai Creta to make its debut in the Chinese market next year, followed by other international markets, including India.
