Honda has updated the CBR500R for 2022. The motorcycle now gets updated hardware and new colour options to choose from. The two colour shades are – Grand Prix Red and the new Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. Other updates for 2022 include redesigned wheels, a lighter radiator, and a powerful LED headlight.
As mentioned, there are some hardware changes as well. The suspension setup now gets a Showa 41mm Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks at the front. Meanwhile, for the rear, it is the same mono-shock unit. Although, Honda did mention that the rear mono-shock setup gets a revised setting to comply with the new front forks. Braking power comes from a 296mm dual disc at the front, upgraded from a single rotor set up in the outgoing model. aThe rear gets a single 240mm rotor with a single-piston calliper. Dual-Channel ABS is a standard fitment for Honda CBR500R.
Honda has retained the same 471cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. But, there’s some good news as well. The 2022 engine gets updated fuel-injection system settings to deliver improved torque. Matched to a 6-speed transmission gearbox system, the performance figure reads as 46.9 BHP and 43 Nm.
In terms of design, Honda has not provided any significant update, other than a new colour shade. Similar to the outgoing model, the 2022 iteration retains the trademark twin-pod headlight assembly, but Honda says they have used a more powerful LED headlight. The motorcycle’s full-fairing design, side slung exhaust and split seat complete the overall outlook. As mentioned, the wheels are different for the 2022 model. The latest iteration gets a five-spoke design as against the six-spoke alloy on the previous model.
Being a Honda, the CBR500R gets all the necessary bells and whistles. This includes full-LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster that shows important riding information like speedometer, tachometer, dual trip metres, fuel level indicator, consumption gauge, clock, coolant temperature, gear position, a shift up indicator and more.
