Under the ownership of Piaggio India, Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Aprilia has launched its updated 2022 SR 160 range for India. The pre-facelifted Aprilia SR scooter range lacked some of the competition’s modern features, making them feel dated. With the newly updated range launch, Aprilia plans to tackle the competition by rectifying the issues. Aprilia’s updated scooter range consists of the SR 125 and the SR 160 and its Carbon and Race Editions.
Piaggio has priced the Aprilia SR 160 at INR 1.17 lakh. Additionally, the SR 160 Carbon and Race Edition cost INR 1.20 and INR 1.27 lakh, respectively. With all prices being ex-showroom Pune, both the Carbon and Race variants differ from their standard variants in colours and graphics.
Customers can book the scooter online via the brand’s official website with a token amount of INR 5,000. Available for customers at all authorized dealerships across the country, the SR 160 range sports five colour options. These include White, Blue, Grey, Red, and Matt Black. The 2022 SR 160 range sports a new LED headlamp with an apron with a redesigned front end.
Aprilia has redesigned the handlebar cowl along with the rear grab rails and added new air-scoops for better aerodynamics. Additionally, the scooter now sports knuckle guards, split-design seats, and CEAT tires instead of the MRF ones from its predecessor. The SR 160 range also sports Aprilia branded graphics on the front and rear side panels along with Aprilia badging.
Powering the new SR160 range is a 160 cc, air-cooled, three-valve engine producing 10.84 PS and 11.6 Nm. The scooter features front telescopic forks with a monoshock rear suspension and 14-inch alloy wheels for rider and pillion comfort. The 2022 SR 160 features a front brake disc with single-channel ABS and a rear drum brake for braking performance.
Aprilia has also ensured to add a new fully-digital LCD screen borrowed from its SXR 160. Riders can monitor their RPM, mileage, average speed, top speed, distance-to-empty range, odometer, and time despite not having Bluetooth connectivity. The scooter also sports an under-storage capacity of 11-litres, a USB charger, boot light, and a 6-litre fuel tank.
