Yamaha has introduced the new Yamaha R15 Version 4 and Yamaha R15M in the Indian market. The Yamaha R15 Version 4 and the R15M succeeds the Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3. The R15 Version 4 and R15M features a design inspiration from the recently launched Yamaha R7 supersport bike. The Yamaha R15 Version 4 and R15M will come with the same tried and tested 155cc motor, but the suspension features significant upgrades.
Yamaha R15 Version 4 and R15M – Price and Colour
The Yamaha R15 Version 4 comes with a sticker price starting at INR 167,800 ex-showroom in Metallic Red colour. The bike is available in the Dark Knight version, with a price tag of INR 168,800 ex-showroom. The Yamaha R15 Version 4 Racing Blue colour is available with a price tag of INR 172,800 ex-showroom. The Yamaha R15M is available at the price of INR 177,800 ex-showroom. The brand also announced that the R15 Version 4 would be available in a limited edition Monster Yamaha MotoGP livery at the price of INR 179,800 ex-showroom.
Yamaha R15M – Exclusive Features
The Yamaha R15M comes with a Yamaha YZF-R1M inspired colour and graphics along with a few exclusive features. The Yamaha R15M features gold finish brake callipers, and Blue anodised fork caps. The bike also comes with carbon-like seat cover material and embroidered logo on the pillion seat. The bike also gets a unique three-dimensional emblem on the tank.
Yamaha R15 Version 4 – Design Highlights
The Yamaha R15 Version 4 and R15M comes with a monocular headlamp which sits inside a ram-air-intake-like recess on the nose fairing. Two LED DRLs flank the single projector headlamp with new light signatures. The bike comes with aerodynamic nose fairing with skirting to deflect air from the rider’s hands.
Yamaha has also worked on the aerodynamics of the new Yamaha R15 Version 4. The coefficient of aerodynamic drag (CdA) is reduced from 0.307 on the current model to 0.293. The motorcycle also gets a clear bubble style windscreen that helps deflect wind and protects the rider from the weather. The Yamaha R15 Version 4 and R15M also comes with a new shape fuel tank that comes with the R15M moniker and new side panels. However, the tail section on the Yamaha R15 Version 4remains similar to the YZF-R15 Version 3.
Yamaha R15 Version 4 – Engine Specifications
Powering the Yamaha R15M is a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine. The four-valve engine comes with Variable Valve Actuation and electronic fuel injection. The engine is capable of producing 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque. The motor comes with a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle also comes with an assist and slipper clutch and a quick-shifter.
Yamaha R15 Version 4 – Mechanical Specifications
The Yamaha R15 Version 4 comes with a Deltabox frame that rides on an upside-down front fork suspension. The motorcycle comes with a link-type rear monoshock mounted on a double-sided aluminium swingarm. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod in tubeless tyres. The motorcycle also features hydraulic disc brakes on both the front and rear for stopping power.
Yamaha R15 Version 4 – Features
The Yamaha R15M will come with Class D bi-LED projector headlamps, LED taillamps, and a fully digital instruments cluster. The motorcycle will also come with dual-channel ABS technology and racing ergonomics. The bike also comes with traction control and riding modes – Track and Street. The Yamaha R15 Version 4 and R15M also come with Yamaha connect features.
