Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha has unveiled the 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally Edition in the international market and the special edition model features an 80’s inspired Dakar Rally race livery with styling cues drawn from the Yamaha race bikes ridden by Serge Bacou and Jean-Claude Olivier in the Paris Dakar Rally.
The 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally Edition is based on the standard Ténéré 700 but gets an electric blue paint job with Yamaha Speedblock graphics, yellow race number patch on the rear cowling, gold finish spoke wire rims and added equipment such as an Akrapovič exhaust system, upgraded rally-spec skid plate, chain guard, radiator guard and a rally seat.
The standard 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 features a narrow body, slim fuel tank, an upright high stance with a tall touring style windscreen, new all-LCD instruments tower that shows speed, rpm, fuel level and range, trips and more, multi-projector headlamp unit, boxy side fairing, full fender, flat-bench seats, minimalist tail section, upswept exhaust, tapered handlebar, knuckle guards, mid-set footpegs, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels shod in dual-sport tyres.
In terms of mechanical parts, the Ténéré 700 features a lightweight, high-strength double-cradle tubular steel frame that rides on 43mm fully adjustable upside-down front fork long-travel suspension, a remote preload-adjustable linkage-type rear shock, Dual 282mm hydraulic disc brakes on the front and a single 245mm hydraulic disc on the rear with disengageable ABS.
The 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 is powered by a CP2 series 689cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 8-valve DOHC, fuel injection engine from the MT-07 that produces 73.4 PS of power and 68 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.
While the standard 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 is priced at GBP 9,147 offered in three colour options – Ceramic Ice, Competition White and Power Black available from June 2020. The 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally Edition will be available for sale in the international market from July 2020 at the price of GBP 10,447 in the European market.
