Yamaha is gearing up to update its popular naked streetfighter the MT-07 very soon and a test mule of the motorcycle has been spotted testing in Europe. The motorcycle in the spied pictures retains the basic styling which is seen on the the current model which was launched only last year. The new Yamaha MT-07 is likely to unveiled by the year 2021 which also coincides with the enforcement of the new Euro5 norms and the test mule is likely to be tested for the same. The naked streetfighter is targeted towards the young audience and is quite popular in its segment.
In terms of styling, the spied pictures show a new refreshed headlight that is likely to be LED, the instrument console appears new and the new bike is likely to get a larger unit. Yamaha is expected to equip the bike with a TFT colour LCD which is being offered by the competition. If the bike gets a colour LCD it is likely to get connectivity features too. In the electronics department, the motorcycle is likely to get traction control and riding modes which the current model lacks.
In the engine department, the MT-07 appears to be same but the emission testing kit attached to the test mule leads us to believe that the bike may get Euro5 compliant engine as the bike is expected to launch close to the new emission regulation date. The MT-07 is expected to employ the same engine in terms of displacement which is a 689cc, crossplane, parallel-twin engine but on the inside the engine is being speculated to get VVA (variable valve actuation) technology which is available on the small YZF-R15 V3.0 in India.
If Yamaha decides to launch the MT-07 in India, it will be pitted against the KTM 790 Duke which is expected be launched soon.
