Volkswagen has unveiled the Tiguan R, which is a Tiguan with much more power. It is equipped with VW’s 4Motion coupled with R-Performance Torque Vectoring which results in 315 BHP of power channeled to all wheels. The rear-drive comes with a pair of multi-plate clutches which distribute power to rear and front axles separately and also capable of rotating the right and left rear wheels at different speed.
This Tiguan R is the fastest among all the Tiguans launched and is capable of sprinting from 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds. The top speed is 250 kmph which makes it a very fun to drive car. The EA888 Evo4 turbocharged TSI engine pumps 315 BHP of power and 420 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm-5,350 rpm. The interiors are updated as well, it comes with a customizable Digital Cockpit with integrated lap timer, sports seats with the R logo and a special Carbon Grey shade limited to the Tiguan R variant only. In the exteriors you get, Y-shaped 20-inch Misano alloy wheels, rear diffuser finished in black, mirrors finished in matte chrome and redesigned bumpers with aerodynamic elements.
For extracting the most out of the car, VW has given powerful 18-inch brake rotors with callipers coloured in blue and with a R logo at the front, a DCC chassis (adaptively controlled shock absorbers) which are lowered by 10 mm and different driving modes. The multifunctional steering wheel houses an R button which activates the sports mode when pressed. The gearbox is a 7-speed DSG with paddle shifters for quick and sporty gear shifting feel.
There are options of personalization like the Black Style design package which enhances the overall outlook of the car by adding few elements finished in black. Tiguan has been a huge hit in the market, talking about the numbers, a Tiguan was made every 35 seconds last year. In 2017, the XL version with a longer wheel space, named Tiguan Allspace was launched. As of 2019, one in every seven Volkswagen car was a Tiguan.
