Volkswagen has revealed the Taigun SUV, which is one of the four vehicles under the SUVW strategy and the India 2.0 Project. Underpinning the Taigun SUV is the Indianised version of the MQB-A0 platform dubbed MQB-A0-IN and boasts 95% of localisation. The made in India mid-sized SUV will come with two engine options, three transmission options, the latest in-car features and a plethora of active and passive safety features.
Exterior Features
On the outside, the Volkswagen Taigun features a horizontally slatted chrome grille with a new VW badge in the centre, sleek LED headlamps with LED DRLs, wraparound LED taillamps, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, satin chrome finishers on the lower bumper, a silver skid plate, side body cladding, roof rails, piano black applique on the tail lamps, chrome trim on the rear bumper that echoes with the front, a rear skid plate, tailgate-mounted spoiler, black finish shark-fin antenna, rear wash and wipe, chrome door handles, etc. The brand has also announced that the Volkswagen Taigun will be available in a GT version.
Interior Features
The Volkswagen Taigun features a 2651mm long wheelbase that offers roomy interiors, a flat transmission tunnel at the rear and smart storage spots. The Taigun features a contemporary dashboard layout, ambient lighting to set the right mood and ventilated front seats for the ultimate comfort in hot Indian weather. The Taigun also comes with automatic climate control AC with touch controls, a 25.4-cm touchscreen infotainment system with My Volkswagen Connect, wireless AppConnect, Apple Carplay, Android Auto, Type C and USB charging ports. The Taigun also gets a digital instruments cluster, multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rearview camera and an electric sunroof.
Safety Features
The Volkswagen Taigun follows the brand ‘Safety First philosophy and comes with 6-airbags, Electronic Stability Control, three headrests at rear, 3-point seat belts and adjustable headrest for all passengers. The SUV also features rear park distance control, Hill-Hold control, Tyre Pressure Deflation Warning system and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
Powertrain
Powering the Volkswagen Taigun will be two engine options a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine and another 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol motor. The brand also revealed that it will launch the Taigun with three gearbox options. Details on the powertrain will be officially revealed in the near future.
