Toyota Kirloskar Motors has launched the new 2021 facelift model of the much-popular Fortuner SUV in the Indian market at the price of INR 28.98 lakh ex-showroom, India. The new Fortuner comes with updates to its exteriors, added equipment on the interiors, as well as a new powerful engine that has been tweaked to deliver more power and torque. Apart from standard Fortuner, the brand has also introduced the Legender trim on the SUV which comes with sharp styling and added equipment. The Fortuner Legender is priced at INR 37.58 lakh ex-showroom, India.
Differentiating itself from the standard avatar, the Legender features split Quad-LED headlamps with waterfall LED line guide signature, Sequential Turn Indicators, an aggressive front apron with geometrical features, jet-intake inspired fog lamp area, a wide air dam, catamaran-style front and rear bumpers, a sleek front grille with piano black accents, 18-inch multilayered machine-finished alloy wheels, dual-tone roof finished in black, dual-tone black and maroon interiors, contrast stitching on the centre console and steering wheel, ambient lighting, UBS port for the second-row occupants, kick gesture operated powered tailgate and wireless smartphone charging.
The standard Fortuner in the facelift avatar features a new LED headlamp with sharp LED light guides, a new aggressive front grille with trough-shaped mesh on the intake finished in black, side-pontoon shaped front bumper, satin chrome elements that flank the radiator grille and integrate with the new projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, projector fog lamps, Multi-Axis spoke alloy wheels with super chrome finish, an all-new Smart Playcast touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity and Connected car Technology that offers features such as Real-time tracking, Last Parked Location, Geo-Fencing etc, new colour options on the interior, front parking sensors, an 11-speaker premium JBL sound system with Subwoofer, an updated Combimeter Theme & Ornamentation and ventilated front seats with super suction technology.
In the engine department, the new facelift model comes with a new 2.8-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor that pumps out 204 Hp of power and 500 Nm of torque matched to an Automatic transmission but is limited to 420 Nm on the Manual transmission option. The brand last year updated the powertrain line-up to BS6 standards which include the outgoing Fortuner powered by the BS6 emissions-compliant 2.7-litre four-cylinder 16-valve dual VVTi DOHC petrol engine that makes 166 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque that continues its duty on the new Fortuner. The new Fortuner also comes with Auto Limited Slip Differential (Auto-LSD), Variable Flow Control (VFC) Power Steering and Eco, Normal, Sport driving modes. The 4×4 variants also come with a Lockable Differential as an additional feature that enables the SUV to crawl out of any situation.
The brand has also added a new Sparkling Black Crystal Shine shade to the existing line-up of Pearl White Crystal Shine, Attitude Black, Super White, Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Phantom Brown and Avant-Garde Bronze. The Legender is available only in a dual-tone Pearl White with Black roof paint theme.
