2021 Tata Tigor EV scores 4-Stars safety rating in Global NCAP crash test

Tata Motors proves itself in the safety rating yet again. The carmaker’s latest model, the Tigor EV, scored 4 stars out of a maximum 5 in the Global NCAP ratings. This also makes Tigor EV the first electric vehicle ever tested by Global NCAP. The rating was no surprise because the current ICE-powered Tigor on sale has also scored 4 stars in its crash test. Under the ‘Safer Cars for India’ initiative, Tigor EV becomes the 44th entrant on the list.

Details Of Tigor EV’s Crash Test

Glocal NCAP mentioned that the Tigor EV used for the test had basic safety features that included 2 airbags. The crash test was conducted at a speed of 64 kmph. In the adult occupants, the sedan scored 12 out of a maximum of 17. And for the child occupants, the Tigor EV scored 37.24 out of 49.

As per Global NCAP, the head and chest protection for both child and adult passengers were adequate. Whereas the bodyshell and footwell area was ‘unstable’. The safety regulating body also mentioned how the safety of the Tigor EV could be improved. Safety features like side-impact protection, standard fitment of Electronic Stability Control (ESC), 3 point belts in all seating positions and ISOFIX connectors can help secure 4 stars in the test.

Tata Tigor EV Launched – Key Takeaway Points

Powered by the ‘Ziptron’ technology, Tigor EV becomes the second electric vehicle of Tata Motors in the passenger segment. The sedan offers a peak power of 75 HP of power and 170 Nm of torque. A total of three variants are on offer, XE, XM and XZ+. Tata Motors is also offering 8 years and 1,60,000 km battery and motor warranty for the customers’ peace of mind.
