Tata Motors today launched the all-new much-anticipated Punch micro-SUV in the Indian market at the price of INR 5.49 lakh ex-showroom. The brand recently unveiled the Tata Punch in India and set the booking price to INR 21,000. The order books for the Tata Punch are now open at all Tata Motors dealerships across the country. The Tata Punch also became the second SUV in the brand’s portfolio to have received the Global NCAP’s coveted 5-stars for safety.
The Punch also comes with several segment-first features; butch SUV looks and a small footprint similar to a hatchback making it the perfect runabout for the urban jungle. However, one should not underestimate the off-road capabilities of the Punch. While the Punch does not have a four-wheel drive, the brand offers multiple engine drive and terrain modes.
Tata is offering the Punch micro SUV in four variants – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. The Tata Punch will come with a single naturally-aspirated petrol engine but comes with both Manual Transmission and Automatic Transmission gearbox. The brand is also offering the Punch with 7 colour options. In addition to this, the Punch also comes with Rhythm and Dazzle customization packs.
Tata Motors Punch micro-SUV comes with extensive use of High Strength Steel designed to absorb and channel excessive impact forces. The car also features a segment-first – Brake Sway Control system in addition to the Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Safety Control. Tata also offers the Punch with Tyre Puncture Repair Kit, Reverse Parking Camera, Parametric Alarm System, Seat Belt Reminders and Child Seat ISOFIX Anchor Points. Thanks to the strong body and the safety kit, the Global NCAP has awarded the Punch with a full 5-stars for Adult Occupant Protection and 4-stars for Child Occupant Protection.
Powering the Tata Punch is a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine. The BS6 compliant engine comes with Tata’s latest Dyna-Pro technology. The new Revotron engine with Dyna-Pro features a ram-air intake system that helps improve both efficiency and performance. The motor is capable of producing 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The Tata Punch has a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox.
The Tata Punch comes with an industry-first ‘Traction Pro’ system. The Punch also gets a 20.3-degree approach angle, 37.6-degree departure angle and 22.2-degree ramp over angle. In addition to this, the car comes with a high ground clearance of 190mm and a water wading capability of 370mm. The Punch also gets Engine Drive Modes – City & Eco along with an automatic start/stop system to enhance efficiency and minimise pollution. The micro-SUV measures 3827mm in length, 1742mm in width and 1615mm in height. The micro-SUV comes with a wheelbase of 2445mm and offers 190mm of ground clearance as well as 366-litres of boot space.
The Tata Punch comes with features such as projector headlamps and LED taillamps. The car comes with the brand’s latest ALFA architecture which enables 90-degree door handles for easier ingress and egress. The SUV also features a chrome humanity line on the front and a design language inspired by the Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs. The Punch features a 7-inch Harman infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple Carplay and iRA Connected Car Technology. The Tata Punch also features a 7-inch TFT instruments cluster, Auto Headlamps and Rain Sensing Wipers, Push-Button Start/Stop, Cooled Glove Box and a Fast USB Charger.
