Suzuki has launched the third-generation Hayabusa in the Indian market at the price of INR 16.40 lakh ex-showroom. The much-anticipated motorcycle comes with an all-new design, a new powertrain with BS6/Euro5 compliance and a new advanced electronics package. The brand has also worked in the aerodynamic department but managed to retain its hallmark bulbous shape.
The Suzuki Hayabusa will be available through ‘Suzuki at your Doorstep’ at the booking amount of INR 100,000. The brand is also taking utmost safety steps due to the current COVID-19 situation. The company has announced that the all-new Hayabusa will be dispatched in mid-May 2021. The all-new Hayabusa will be available in three colour options – Pearl Brilliant White/ Metallic Matte Stellar Blue, Metallic Matte Sword Silver/ Candy Daring Red and Glass Sparkle Black/ Candy Burnt Gold.
The third-generation Suzuki Hayabusa features a 1340cc in-line four-cylinder four-stroke engine with the same engine architecture as the predecessor. But apart from the casing, the brand has updated all the innards of the liquid-cooled DOHC motor. The new engine comes with new throttle bodies and a new fuel injection system that help produce 187 Hp of power and 150 Nm of torque.
The intake and exhaust camshafts are now reprofiled to reduce overlap and the valve spring have also been optimised. The motor now comes with a newly optimised twin swirl combustion chamber. This not only allows better combustion but also smoother power delivery and reduced vibrations. The pistons are also new and lighter than the predecessor so are the new lighter and stiffer connecting rods.
Suzuki has also worked on the exhaust system which is now sharper in design and features three-catalytic converters to conform to the new suffocating emission standards. Despite the addition of the catalyser, the exhaust system is 2 kgs lighter than the predecessor. In fact, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has managed to shave off 2.7 kgs of overall weight from the motorcycle, compared to the second-generation model. But still, the Hayabusa tips the scales at a hefty 264 kg at the kerb.
The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa features an all-new design that is not only contemporary but also timeless. The brand not only retains the wind-cheating characteristics but also significantly improved the Hayabusa in terms of aerodynamics. Suzuki has integrated a new air diffuser into the bodywork that cocoons the rider from external elements, especially wind blast at high speeds. The front fascia, sides and tail are completely new in both design and dynamics.
The brand has also heavily modified the chassis to accommodate the new aerodynamic bodywork. The motorcycle also comes with new seat rails, however, the mainframe is borrowed from the Gen2 model. The swingarm on the third-generation model also remains unchanged but the motorcycle now gets premium Kayaba front forks with new internals.
The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa features an extensive electronics package. This includes the new Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) with a Power mode selector. The SDMS-α features three riding-mode presets – A: Active, B: Basic, and C: Comfort which the rider can select from the handlebar. The motorcycle also comes with Cruise Control, Active Speed Limiter, Hill Hold Control System, Launch Control System, Anti-lift Control System, Engine Braking Control, Motion Track Traction Control and ABS.
