2021 SsangYong Rexton SUV revealed

South Korean automobile manufacturer, SsangYong has taken the wraps off the 2021 Rexton SUV in the international market. The 2021 Rexton SUV gets a mid-life update and features new exterior highlights, a similar interior layout but updates to the equipment and new updates to the powertrain which is more powerful than the predecessor.

Exterior Updates

The 2021 SsangYong Rexton comes with a new diagonal chainmail radiator grille mesh with a chunky satin chrome finish bezel and grille studs, a new geometric front bumper that integrates the foglights and gives the car a chiselled look from the front, sleek upswept headlamp units with four-pot HID headlamps, LED front fog lamps with cornering function, silver finish roof rails, chrome window beltline, flared wheel arches, reworked LED taillamps, new rear bumper, chrome exhaust finishers, tailgate spoiler, shark fin antenna etc.

Interiors

On the inside, the SsangYong Rexton features a new flat-bottomed four-point steering wheel with controls, a fully-digital colour TFT instruments cluster with customisable options and AVN mirroring capability, an 8-inch centrally mounted touchscreen display with Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, electronic tailgate, 5-seat and 7-seat optionsĀ and five interior colour and upholstery options to choose from. The Rexton also comes with a plethora of safety features such as 9 airbags, quadruple layered frame member structure with crash zone box, Electronic stability program, Anti-Roll over Protection, Brake Assist System, trailer sway control, Automatic Emergency Braking and more.

Powertrain

Powering the SsangYong Rexton is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel motor that produces 202 PS of power and 441 Nm of torque. The engine comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the option of 2-wheel-drive and 4-wheel-drivetrain. The Rexton weighs 1960 kg to 2241 kg depending on the seat and drivetrain configuration but the engine is capable of propelling the SUV to a top speed of 184 kmph. The Rexton measures 4,850mm in length, 1,960mm in width, 1,825mm in height, 2,865mm of wheelbase and comes with a 224mm ground clearance with the independent rear suspension and 203mm ground clearance with the 5-link rear suspension.
