Royal Enfield is updating its popular adventure motorcycle the ‘Himalayan’ in the Indian market. The 2021 model not only gets new colours, but the brand is also upgrading the motorcycle in terms of its ergonomics as well as features making it even more desirable.
According to the spy shots, the new avatar of the Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with a taller windscreen that offers better weather protection to the rider and a new Royal Enfield Tripper Navigation pod that made its debut on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The pictures reveal that the Tripper Navigation system does not incorporate with the instruments cluster and maybe an Ad-Hoc system. The Navigation system set on the right-hand side of the cluster and offers turn-by-turn navigation features.
Apart from the taller windscreen and the new Navigation system, the brand has also improved the design on the front-side rack to reduce obstruction on the rider’s knee. The rack has been redesigned and now offers better ergonomics. The tail rack is also said to come with a new design offering better useability, but as of now, there is no clear picture of the new tail rack. The seat is also upgraded with new high-density foam and new upholstery.
The engine is the same BS6-compliant 411cc air-cooled single-cylinder SOHC motor that churns out 24.6 Hp of power and 32 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. Other mechanical hardware is also retained from the outgoing model such as the long-travel suspension and brakes.
The new update also brings new colours clearly evident in the spy shots. The 2021 Himlayan gets new Mirage Silver, Pine Green and Granite Black colour options alongside some of earlier colour options. The 2021 Himalayan’s price is likely to increase by nearly INR 20,000 compared to the outgoing model.
