MG has launched the new MG Astor at the starting price of INR 9.78 lakh ex-showroom. The brand has commenced the pre-reserve on the Astor from all MG dealerships and online platforms across the country starting today. But the order books will open on 21st October 2021. MG also revealed that the brand plans to commence deliveries on the Astor starting in November and December. The brand will deliver approximately 5,000 units by the end of this calendar year, in the first batch.
MG offers the Astor in five exterior colour options – Spiced Orange, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, Candy White and Starry White. The brand also offers the Astor with three interior colour choices – Sangria Red, Iconic Ivory and Tuxedo Black. MG offers the Astor in four variants – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The MG Astor comes with 3-3-3 which includes a three-years unlimited km warranty, three years of RSA and three labour-free services. The brand also offers a low 47 paise/km cost of ownership. MG is also offering annual maintenance packages which range from 3 years 30,000 km and go up to 5 years 50,000 km, starting at INR 16,500. The brand also offers a ‘3-60’ buyback plan at the cost of INR 20,000 ensuring a 60% buyback value before the end of three years and up to 45,000 km. Customers can enrol for the service program within one year of the purchase of the car or before 10,000 km.
The MG Astor comes packed with advanced technology, making the Astor India’s first SUV with Artificial Intelligence or AI technology. The SUV comes with Car-As-A-Platform, which enables features such as MapMyIndia 4D maps, Koinearth Vehicle Digital Passport, Park+ and Jio Saavn. The brand will use Jio’s vast internet network to enable 80+ connected features through the Next-Gen iSmart technology. The Astor also comes with 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment and a 7-inch instrument cluster. The car also features a panoramic sunroof, Heated ORVMs, PM 2.5 Filter, Electric Parking Brake, Rain-sensing wiper, Rear AC vents, Digital Key, and a lot more.
The MG Astor SUV is based on the globally acclaimed ‘ZS’ platform. The brand boasts that the Astor is the first-in-segment vehicle to come with Autonomous Level 2 features. The Astor gets 14 Autonomous Level 2 features thanks to radar and a multipurpose camera. Thanks to the advanced sensors, radar and camera systems, the MG Astor offers features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking.
Driver assistance systems also include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention. MG also offers features such as a Speed Assist System Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC) and Rear Drive Assist (RDA). The brand also offers a comprehensive safety package with Astor, including 6-airbags ESP, TCS, HDC and 27 other features as standard. MG also boasts that all the safety systems and autonomous features, as well as the ADAS, have been optimised for India.
Powering the MG Astor is a 1.5-litre VTI-Tech petrol engine. The naturally-aspirated motor produces 110 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The SUV also comes with a 1.4-litre 220TURBO petrol motor. The engine with a turbocharger produces 140 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. The brand offers only a 6-speed automatic transmission on the turbo-petrol motor.
The MG Astor measures 4323mm in length, 1809mm in width and 1650mm in height. The Astor also comes with a wheelbase of 2585mm that converts to roomier interiors and large boot space. The brand also offers 17-inch alloy wheels shod in 215/55 tubeless tyres. The spare wheel is a space saver that is a 215/60 R16 Steel Wheel. The brand offers a 48-litre fuel tank on the naturally aspirated model and a 45-litre fuel tank on the turbo-petrol variant.
