2021 Maserati Grecale SUV officially teased, will come to India

Maserati Grecale official teaser is out. The Italian luxury carmaker shared an intentionally blurred image of the SUV which does give us few hints about the overall design and size of the upcoming SUV. The Grecale will likely be positioned below the Levante. The launch will likely happen sometime later this year with more details coming out in the due time.

What’s New?

From the blurred images it is evident that the SUV is very similar to its siblings with a long muscular hood, a large nose with openings for the engine to breathe and LED headlights. The prominent design cues include split tail lamps, large wheel arches and a sloping roofline. The SUV will share some of the components with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The reason being that both the SUVs will share the same manufacturing facility located in Cassino, Italy.

Engine Options

Maserati may plonk the 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine which does the duty in the range-topping Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. A performance Trofeo edition of the Grecale with the V6 engine which makes 510 HP of power and 600 Nm of torque might also be in the plans. Though chances are high that the Maserati will equip the 2.0-litre four-pot petrol engine producing 272 HP of power with the Grecale. Earlier, Maserati hinted that it will be shifting its focus in building electric vehicles in the coming few years which means the Grecale could possibly come with an all-electric version as well.

Price and Official Launch

Though there are no official statements or announcements about the price of the car, we expect the SUV to have a sticker price of around GBP 50,000 which is similar to what its chief rival, Porsche Macan’s range starts from. As far as the launch date is concerned, Maserati will likely reveal the Grecale in late 2021 with the car hitting the showrooms in early 2022. The SUV will also go on sale in India, though the deliveries may start as late as mid-2022 and will cost less than the Levante which starts at around INR 1.50 crore (ex-showroom).
