Jaguar Land Rover has launched the 2021 Land Rover Discovery in the Indian market, priced at INR 88.06 lakh ex-showroom. The new Land Rover Discovery comes with a unique design evolution and the latest petrol and diesel engines. The SUV is also packed with the latest interior features but retains Land Rover’s timeless family adventure characteristic. The brand boasts that the Discovery offers both practicality and comfort, making it one of the most capable, versatile and connected 7-seat premium SUVs in the world.
The 2021 Land Rover Discovery comes with butch and upright looks. The muscular SUV features a clamshell bonnet design with the “DISCOVERY” lettering. The front fascia features a black-out grille design flanked by sleek headlamp units. The SUV gets new signature LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. The new Discovery also comes with animated LED indicators and new LED taillamps joined across the car’s rear by the DISCOVERY moniker and a number plate mount. The Land Rover Discovery also comes with new front bumpers with wider body-coloured graphics and new side vents. The Discovery retains the hallmark stepped roof and the highly visible C-pillar.
Powering the Land Rover Discovery are new straight-six Ingenium engines in both petrol and diesel. The Land Rover Discovery is available in three trims – P300, P360 and D300. The P300 comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 300 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The P360 comes with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 360 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. The D300 features a 3.0-litre six-cylinder oil motor that churns out 300 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque.
The Land Rover Discovery with the in-house developed Ingenium series engines is not just capable on the road. But also comes with an advanced driveline that optimises the torque split between front and rear axles. The car uses a range of sensors to detect the terrain and distribute torque to suit the conditions. The Discovery also gets an Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system that optimises traction, on-road dynamics and driveline efficiency. The SUV also gets Terrain Response 2 technology and a new Wade Mode for deep water fording.
The Land Rover Discovery comes with features such as the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system with a 48% larger 11.4-inch full HD touchscreen. The system integrates Land Rover’s SOTA technology, enabling the user to update as many as 44 individual electronic modules over the air. The car also features a 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display, integrated with high-definition 3D mapping. Also featuring is a Cabin Air Ionisation system with PM2.5 air filtration. The Discovery also gets Land Rover’s Click and Go tablet holders, USB-A charging sockets, and many other optional features such as hands-free Gesture Tailgate, Intelligent Seat Fold, second-generation Activity Key etc.
