2021 KTM 250 Adventure will produces 30 PS & 24 Nm, weighs 156 kg

KTM has started dispatching some units of the upcoming 250 Adventure to dealers, for the RTO formalities. While all that is happening, the market buzz is getting stronger as many are flocking at the KTM dealerships to get more information about this entry level adventure tourer from Team Orange. Now, the official specifications of the 2020 KTM 250 Adventure have leaked, which will obviously be launched as a 2021 model worldwide. Point to note, the bike will share its components with the 250 Duke naked sibling and with the 390 Adventure as well for cost efficiency.

Powering the new KTM 250 Adventure is a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, fuel-injected motor producing 30 PS of power @ 9000 RPM & 24 Nm of torque @ 7000 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch. On the other hand, the KTM 390 Adventure produces 43.5 PS of power and 37 Nm of torque from its 373.2cc engine. But even with the power and torque deficit, we already know that the new KTM 250 Adventure will be more usable inside the city, just like the naked sibling 250 Duke. KTM will not offer the superior electronics suite we see on the 390 Adventure on the KTM 250 Adventure, so expect ride-by-wire, quickshifter, traction control to be given a miss. However, there will be a switchable off-road ABS mode on offer.

In terms of equipment, the new KTM 250 Adventure will also ride on a steel trellis chassis, 43mm WP Apex USD front forks with 177mm travel, WP Apex rear monoshock with 170mm travel, 320mm front disc brake, 230mm rear disc brake, 19″ front wheel with a 100/90 tyre, 17″ rear wheel with a 130/80 tyre, 14.5L of fuel tank capacity, 156 kg dry weight, adjustable front windscreen, similar split seat layout, integrated crash bars as on the 390 Adventure, engine bash plate, same exhaust unit, LED tail lamps, LED DRL and a halogen bulb headlamp setup. The KTM 250 Adventure will run on MRF tyres as opposed to the Metzelers seen on the 390 Adventure.

We have already seen in spyshots before that the KTM 250 Adventure will not get the colour display instrument cluster as the 390 Adventure, but will feature a slightly cheaper (cost) TFT display with a black and white setup. The screen though will share a host of information which should be more than enough, and we think that this new screen is better than the 250 Duke for sure.

Expect the KTM 250 Adventure to be priced under INR 3 lakh on-road, while the 390 Adventure is priced close to INR 3 lakh ex-showroom. There should be a significant price gap between the two models, just like the price gap of close to INR 50,000 between the 250 Duke and 390 Duke.
