2021 Kawasaki Ninja 650, Z 650 & 2020 Z 900 bookings open in India

Kawasaki has opened bookings for its new 2021 Ninja 650, new 2021 Z 650 and 2020 Z 900 in the Indian market. Though the motorcycles have not yet reached dealerships, bookings for the upcoming motorcycles are being received. The brand has listed the new motorcycles and also added the ‘Book Now’ tab on the official website, but the prices for the all-new 2021 Ninja 650 and Z 650 has not been revealed. 

The new 2021 Ninja 650 and Z 650 get a new design, upgraded equipment and a new BS6 emissions-compliant engine. Both the 2021 Ninja 650 and the Z 650 are expected to be priced INR 50,000 more than the outgoing model. The new Ninja 650 is likely to carry a price tag around the INR 6.60 lakh mark and the Z 650 is likely to be priced around INR 6.35 lakh ex-showroom. 

In terms of styling, the new 2021 Ninja 650 comes in-line with the Ninja ZX10R design language and comes with a sportier front fascia along with an improved windscreen, split LED headlamps, LED position lamps, full side fairing, high tail section, two-up split-seats, body graphics, midship exhaust, an all-new digital TFT colour instrumentation with Bluetooth smartphone connectivity and ‘Rideology The App’ integration. The bike also features new Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres for sporty handling characteristics.

The new 2021 Z 650 also features new LED headlamps, sharper headlamp cowl similar to other Z models, a sharp chin spoiler, new instruments cluster cowl, forward-slanting lines, muscular radiator shrouds, compact cowling, two-up split-seats, a small flyscreen, midship exhaust and all-new digital instrumentation with smartphone connectivity. The Z 650 also features new Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres similar to the 2021 Ninja 650. 

In the engine department, both the 2021 Ninja 650 and the Z 650 feature the same BS6 compliant 649cc parallel-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled 4-stroke, 8-valve DOHC dual throttle valve fuel-injected engine that produces 68 PS of power and 64 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed return type transmission. Both the motorcycle feature a steel trellis frame, conventional 41mm telescopic front fork suspension, horizontal back-link suspension with adjustable preload, dual semi-floating 300mm petal discs on the front and a single petal disc on the rear with hydraulic dual 2-piston callipers on the front and a single-piston calliper on the rear.

While the 2020 Z 900 gets minor styling upgrades, a BS6 compliant engine and a few pieces of upgraded equipment, the brand have launched the 2020 Kawasaki Z 900 at the price of INR 7,99,000 ex-showroom, which is making it INR 29,100 more expensive than the outgoing model.

In terms of styling, the 2020 Z 900 retains the Z Sugomi design language with the crouching stance that has a low positioned front and an upswept tail but receives styling changes that include sharper headlight cowling, new muscular radiator shrouds, new LED headlamps, new LED licence plate lamps, new LED position lamps and new LED turn signals. The 2020 Z 900 also features new all-digital TFT colour instrumentation, Kawasaki’s advanced traction control system, KRTC integrated riding modes and smartphone connectivity. 

The 2020 Z 900 also comes with a BS6 compliant 948cc in-line four-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-stroke, 16-valve DOHC fuel-injected engine that makes 125 PS of power and 98.6 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed return type gearbox. The Z900 comes with a steel trellis frame, 41mm upside-down adjustable front forks, adjustable horizontal back-link suspension, dual semi-floating 300mm petal discs on the front and single 250mm petal disc with dual 4-piston callipers on the front and a single-piston calliper on the rear.

Deliveries for the new 2021 Ninja 650, new 2021 Z 650 and the 2020 Z 900 is likely to begin as soon as health conditions normalise in the country and the lockdown due to the COVID-19 CoronaVirus outbreak is lifted.

Kawasaki is also expected to bring the upgraded Ninja 1000 to the Indian market in the coming months and the new Ninja 1000 is likely to come with upgraded electronics, reworked engine and around a 10% price hike than the outgoing model.
