2021 Kawasaki Ninja 300 with BS6 engine for India revealed

It’s been a long time coming, and Kawasaki has finally taken the wraps off the 2021 Ninja 300 sportsbike for the Indian market. The Japanese manufacturer has not yet revealed the prices for this model, but have confirmed that it will soon reach dealerships. Kawasaki shared images of the new model on their social media handles and now we finally know what to expect. And, it’s not much. The biggest change on this motorcycle is going to be the BS6 compliant engine.

What Kawasaki has changed?

From the image shared, we now know that the 2021 Ninja 300 BS6 model will come with the new Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) livery as seen on the 2021 Ninja 650 model. There are all-new decals on this 2021 Ninja 300 motorcycle, unlike the model which was discontinued in the recent past. However, all the body panels remain almost the same. There is barely any change one can notice so far, and even the exhaust end can looks similar.

Powertrain Speculations

Kawasaki has not officially revealed the specifications of the 2021 Ninja 300 BS6 model, but the outgoing model came with a 296cc, parallel-twin, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor producing 39 PS of power and 27 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper assist clutch. Now, with the BS6 update, we expect the power and torque figures to be different than the old model and there could also be some change in weight, the old one had a kerb mass of 179 kg. The brand will improve the exhaust system to be environmentally friendly to meet the strict emission norms.

Similarities & Price

Everything else looks familiar from the image shared. The same headlamp, alloy wheels, seat setup, suspension, rear swing arm, clip-on handlebars, along with the semi digital + analogue speedometer cluster. The old BS4 model used to retail at INR 2.98 lakh ex-showroom. We don’t know if Kawasaki will surprise us with a lower price tag, but going by how things have turned out in the automobile industry, prices could likely go up for this old but competent model.
