Jeep has commenced local assembly of the Jeep Wrangler at the brand’s Ranjangaon joint venture manufacturing facility and the 2021 Jeep Wrangler that will be produced in the Indian market will be launched on 15th March 2021. The brand has also begun accepting pre-bookings for the 2021 Jeep Wrangler in 26 dealerships across the country. The brand will soon announce the specification of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler as well as its pricing during the market launch.
The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most capable off-roading tool currently available in the market and it is also the most recognisable SUV in the world that comes with the classic Jeep design, powerful yet efficient powertrain options, advanced on-road as well as off-road dynamics, a plethora of creature comfort features, open-air freedom as well as advanced safety technologies. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is the second product out of four localised Jeep products and now with the new local assembly model, the brand will be able to target a wider audience.
While the brand will reveal the engine and transmission specifications on the 15th of March at the SUVs market launch, we speculate that powering the Jeep Wrangler will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol motor that makes 270 Hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is likely to come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The top-spec iteration of the Wrangler, the ‘Rubicon’, named after the infamous Rubicon trails in California comes with 4X4 off-road equipment such as a 4:1 low range 2-speed transfer case with Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials for both the front and rear axles, a full-time torque management system and electronically operated sway bar disconnect for improved articulation during off-road.
Jeep is also planning to introduce a fully electric Jeep Wrangler in the international market the concept version of which is slated to make its debut at the Easter Jeep Safari in Spring.
