2021 Hyundai Elantra revealed with new Parametric Dynamics

Hyundai has revealed the all-new 2021 Elantra in the USA which comes as a completely redesigned model that is based on a new K3 platform and is 56mm longer, 26mm wider and 51mm lower than the current model up for sale in the Indian market. The wheelbase has also been increased by 20mm and the weight reduced as compared to its predecessor.

In the seventh generation, the brand has chosen a new ‘Parametric Dynamics’ design language which gets its inspiration from polyhedral geometric shapes where three surface lines meet at one place. The end product is an angular design with a lot of sharp cuts and crease lines all over the bodywork.

Talking about the exterior, the 2021 Elantra features a cascading grille with sharp features on the air vents, an angular multi-layered bumper with chrome accents, triangular inserts on the air vents that flank the bumper, upswept wraparound headlights with projector beams and LED daytime running lights, V-shaped crease lines on the bonnet, slightly flared wheel arches, polyhedral angles on the doors, 17-inch dual-tone machine-finished alloy wheels, a chrome strip on the window sills, shark-fin antenna on the roof, a sloping roofline that blends far into the rear deck giving it a four-door coupe look, angular crease line on the rear bumper with chrome accents on the lower end, LED combination tail lamps with an H-shaped light bar that runs from one end to the other and ‘ELANTRA’ moniker on the tailgate.

On the inside, the all-new Hyundai Elantra features a dark theme on the dashboard and a driver-oriented cockpit styled interior. The 2021 Elantra comes with a dual-screen display cluster with 10.25-inch driver’s display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display place on the same plane. Below the central infotainment display lies the air-conditioning vent that appears to run the entire width of the dash and is finished in satin silver. Below the Air-con vents are the pushbuttons and a rotary controller to operate the audio/video system. On the central tunnel are controls for the dual-zone AC and a chunky gear selector with cubby holes, bottle holder, wireless smartphone charging pad, and an electrically operated parking brake. The 2021 Elantra gets the brands new-generation steering wheel with controls and diamond-knurled control sticks for headlight operation and windscreen wipers. The touchscreen system will come with the brand’s latest-generation Advanced BlueLink software with a plethora of connected features as well as a voice-activated assistant with artificial intelligence.

In the engine department, the brand is likely to introduce the Elantra with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a CVT automatic gearbox and a new 1.6-litre Turbocharged Gasoline Direct injection (TGDi) petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system with a 32 kW electric motor and a 1.32 kWh lithium-ion battery that produces a combined output of 139 hp of power and 264 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The all-new Hyundai Elantra will be arriving in the US market by the end of this calendar year. The brand has recently given the sixth-generation Elantra a mid-life update here in the Indian market and the seventh-generation car is expected to debut around 2021 with a price ranging from INR 15 lakh to 22 lakh ex-showroom.
