2021 Hyundai Alcazar will get 2.0L petrol & 1.5L diesel engines

Hyundai is preparing for the global debut of the much-anticipated 7-seater SUV the Hyundai Alcazar. Now a media report reveals the powertrain details of the Alcazar before its global launch. According to a media report, the Hyundai Alcazar will come with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Powertrains

Though the Alcazar shares most of the underpinnings with the Hyundai Creta, reports suggest that the SUV will not come with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine the powers the Creta in the Indian market. Instead, the 7-seater SUV will come with a 2.0-litre petrol engine from the Hyundai Tucson SUV and the Elantra SUV and produces 152 Hp of power and 192 Nm of torque. The diesel iteration is likely to use the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel motor from the Creta SUV but Hyundai will tweak the engine to produce more power and torque. The more powerful engine will help keep the throttle response crisp in the SUV. Sources also suggest that the 7-seater SUV will come with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter type automatic option.

What has been officially revealed so far?

Hyundai recently unveiled the interior design sketch of the Alcazar revealing that the SUV will come in two seating options a 7-seater and a 6-seater with captain seats in the middle row. The 6-seater options also gets a large armrest in the between the captain seats which could feature a wireless smartphone charger. The overall layout will be similar to the Creta but the brand will introduce new dashboard embellishments as well as seat upholstery to differentiate the products.

Exterior Speculation and Testing Stage

Speculations are that the Hyundai Alcazar will come with a new radiator grille that differentiates the 7-seater SUV from the 5-seater Creta, along with a different design on the alloy wheels and a completely new haunch. The brand also officially revealed the rear end design sketch of the Alcazar which show completely different C-pillar, an extended overhang and new taillight signatures. Hyundai also confirmed that the Alcazar has passed all the durability and road testing evaluation in various terrains and climatic condition of India and the SUV is ready to make its debut soon.

Competition

The Hyundai Alcazar will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus, the Tata Safari and the next-generation Mahindra XUV500 which is still undergoing evaluations.
