Ducati in the third episode of the Ducati World Première, a web series of 5 episodes has revealed the 2021 Ducati Panigale V4 SP. The SP in the moniker stands for ‘Sport Production’. The abbreviation has been revived after many years and was introduced for the first time on the legendary Ducati 851. The ‘SP’ abbreviation allows the recognition of a production motorcycle with specific technical equipment having derived from the racing machines used in the Sport Production Championship, the ancestor of the current Superstock.
The Ducati Panigale V4 SP is powered by a Euro5 compliant 1,103cc Desmosedici 90-degree V-4-Cylinder water-cooled engine with Desmodromic vale distribution 4-valve per cylinder and a counter-rotating crankshaft. The motor has a high 14:1 compression ratio that helps churn out 214 Hp of power and 124 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift EVO 2 bi-directional quick shifter and a hydraulically controlled slipper dry clutch with self bleeding master cylinder. The Panigale V4 SP also features a variable-length intake system, full ride-by-wire throttle with elliptical throttle bodies, electronic fuel injection and twin injectors per cylinder. The Panigale V4 SP also features a 4-2-1-2 exhaust system.
The Ducati Panigale V4 SP also features contents derived from the Superleggera V4, such as lightweight 5-spoke carbon wheels, Brembo Stylema R brake callipers on the front and a Brembo front brake pump with MCS (Multiple Click System) and ‘remote adjusting’ device. The motorcycle also comes with a billet machined steering head plate with individual numbering and machined aluminium rear-set footpegs with carbon fibre heel guards.
The Ducati Panigale V4 SP features a new ‘Winter Test’ inspired livery similar to the one used on the Ducati Corse Bikes in the pre-season tests of the MotoGP and SBK Championships and comes in a combination of matte black fairings, carbon fibre rims, wings & front mudguards, brushed aluminium tank and bright red accents. The Ducati Panigale V4 SP also features full LED lighting with daytime running light, electronically adjustable Öhlins suspension and steering damper, lightweight lithium-ion battery, racing style handle grips etc.
The 2021 Ducati Panigale V4 SP will be available from March 2021.
