During the fifth episode of the Ducati World Première, the Italian manufacturer has unleashed the 2021 Ducati Monster and Monster Plus with a new Euro5-spec larger displacement powertrain, a new superbike-derived frame and new styling, but the original tried and tested recipe from the 90s.
The new Ducati Monster and Monster Plus are powered by a Euro5 emissions-compliant 937cc liquid-cooled 90-degree V-Twin-Cylinder 4-valve 11-degree Testastretta Desmodromic valve distribution system, ride-by-wire throttle and electronic fuel injection that generates 111 Hp of power and 93 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox and slipper and self-servo multi-plate wet clutch with hydraulic control. The new Monster is also available with an A2 licence compatible 47 Hp power output.
The larger displacement engine is complemented with a superbike-derived aluminium front frame that keeps the dry weight at just 166 kg which means the new Monster is not just fast but also nimble and easy to handle. Thanks to the front frame, the new Monster features narrow sides that make it easier to put the feet on the ground even with a commanding saddle height of 820mm.
The new Monster and Monster Plus ride on 43mm upside-down front fork suspension with 130mm of wheel travel, a preload-adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage on the rear with a double-sided swingarm and 140mm of wheel travel. The motorcycle comes with 17-inch alloy wheels shod in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyres. Stopping power comes from twin 320mm semi-floating discs with radially-mounted Brembo M4.32 4-piston monobloc callipers on the front equipped with a radial master cylinder and a 245mm single disc with Brembo 2-piston calliper on the rear armed with ABS with cornering function.
The 2021 Ducati Monster features a new full-LED headlamp with dark inserts, LED daytime running lights, dynamic turn indicators, LED taillamps, a 4.3-inch TFT colour display, Ducati Multimedia integration-ready, ready for heated grips, USB socket, Ducati Quickshift, Ducati Power Launch, Power Modes, Riding Modes, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, etc. The Monster Plus also features a flyscreen and a passenger seat cowl.
The best-selling Ducati model is also expected to make its way to the Indian soil soon. The new Monster is offered in three paint options – Ducati Red, Aviator Grey and Dark Stealth.
