BMW Motorrad has launched the 2021 S 1000 R in India starting at INR 17.90 lakh ex-showroom. The brand has announced that the new BMW S 1000 R will be available as a completely built-up unit (CBU). The naked motorcycle can be ordered from all BMW Motorrad India dealerships from today onwards.
The BMW S 1000 R is available in three variants – Standard, Pro and Pro M Sport. The S 1000 R in the Standard version costs INR 17.90 lakh ex-showroom. The BMW S 1000 R PRO INR 19.75 lakh ex-showroom. The 2021 BMW S 1000 R PRO M Sport INR 22.50 lakh ex-showroom. The 2021 BMW S 1000 R will be available in three colour option – Racing Red, Hockenheim Silver Metallic and Light White/M Motorsport, which is available Only With the Pro M Sport option.
The 2021 BMW S 1000 R features a sport naked design language and comes with a sharp and masculine design. The motorcycle features a ‘tail up – nose down’ design enhancing the dynamic roadster. The BMW S 1000 R comes with new LED headlamps, new ‘R’ stylised fuel tank side panels, the tank centre cover. BMW has also redesigned the engine spoiler making the Sportnaked more aggressive. BMW Motorrad has also made ergonomic refinements to the motorcycle in terms of the reversible handlebar clamp to adjust reach and riding position and seat height.
Powering the 2021 BMW S 1000 R is a Euro5/BS6 compliant 999cc in-line four-cylinder water-cooled engine. The motor shares the architecture with the S 1000 RR superbike but develops 165 hp of power and 114 Nm of torque. The motorcycle comes with a 6-speed gearbox a self-reinforcing anti-hopping clutch. BMW Motorrad has also made optimisations to the 4th, 5th and 6th gears, which now have longer ratios. This will allow the motorcycle to cruise at low engine speeds. For the first time, BMW has also equipped the S 1000 R with a drag torque control (MSR) as an optional extra.
The BMW S 1000 R comes with a Flex Frame similar to the S1000RR, Full Floater Pro kinematics, an upside-down fork on front and a single spring strut on the rear. The motorcycle also comes with a 6.5-inch TFT multifunctional instrument cluster. The display features a third Core Screen with bar display and lap timer on the optional M package. The motorcycles electronics package also consists of a 6-axis inertia measuring sensor that opens up the ability to calculate the pitch rate and provide an anti-wheelie function. The motorcycle also gets four modes, Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro, as standard. The S 1000 R features Engine Brake, Traction Control, Wheelie-Control, ABS and ABS Pro for safety.
BMW Motorrad offers a standard warranty of 3-years and unlimited km on the new S 1000 R. Customers can also extend the warranty to the fourth and fifth year as an option. To enable customers to acquire the 2021 BMW S 1000 R, the German brand offers customised and flexible financial solutions. BMW Motorrad also offers a 24×7 365 days package Road-Side Assistance.
