2021 BMW Motorrad R nine T motorcycles get updates

BMW Motorrad has updated the R nine T range for the upcoming 2021 season. The German premium motorcycle manufacturer has fine-tuned the design, extended the range of standard features, Euro5 emission norms for the engine and significantly extended the optional equipment package. The changes have been made to the new BMW R nineT models – R nineT, R nineT Pure, R nineT Scrambler and R nineT Urban G/S.

The BMW R nine T now comes with LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights as standard, a wider range of exclusive paint finishes, White LED indicators as standard, a circular instrument with a new dial, Rain and Road riding modes as standard. Apart from the new paint schemes added to the range, the brand has also added the Edition 40 Years GS, available as a limited edition, inspired from the legendary R 100 GS to mark the 40th anniversary of the BMW Motorrad GS family.

In the engine department, the R nine T is powered by an 1170 cc, air/oil-cooled flat twin, boxer, with two camshafts and four radially aligned valves per cylinder and a central counterbalancer shaft on the engine that now makes 109 hp of power instead of the 110 hp in the previous model and the same 116 Nm of torque matched to a claw-shifted 6-speed transmission with helical-cut splines and a shaft drive along with a hydraulically operated single-plate dry clutch.

The turbulence system inside the cylinder head has also been improved to ensure cleaner combustion and a wider range of torque availability, with improved pulling power over the predecessor. BMW has also updated the cylinder heads with renewed outer to inner cooling fins and newly designed throttle valve parts and cylinder head covers for enhanced aesthetics.

Other updates include an ABS Pro with DBC (Dynamic Brake Control) for even greater safety when braking in banking position, suspension strut with travel-dependent damping (WAD) as standard providing more balance and comfortable handling, a hand wheel for adjusting the spring preload on the shock absorber as standard and new ex-works options and new optional accessories.
