2021 BMW Motorrad G310R & G310GS prices increased by INR 5,000

BMW Motorrad has announced a price hike for its entry-level offerings in India; the G 310 R and the G 310 GS. These motorcycles were launched at INR 2.45 lakhs and INR 2.85 lakhs for G 310R and G 310 GS respectively, but now with the price hike of INR 5,000 the G 310 R will be priced at INR 2.50 lakhs meanwhile the G 310 GS will be priced at INR 2.90 lakhs. Even with the price hike, BMW’s offerings are still in tune with their rivals’ in terms of the pricing.

Apart from the price hike, everything will remain the same. A 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor cranking out 34 Hp of power and 28 Nm of torque does the duty for the 310 twins. The gearbox offered is a 6-speed unit and the suspension setup includes an upside-down fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear.

For the year 2020, BMW Motorrad had reported a total cumulative sale of 2,563 units which translates to annual growth of 6.7%. Given the current situation, BMW did bounce back after the lockdown period and reported a growth of 51% in the October-December quarter when compared to the same period last year. The 310 twins accounted for more than 80% of the sales which was quite inevitable given the models received a price cut of around INR 55,000 for the BS6 2020 update and thus proved to be a great value proposition to the potential customers. The update also included additions such as an LED headlamp, LED-indicators, blacked-out engine, new paint options and in the mechanical department, BMW had added a slipper clutch along with ride-by-wire.

BMW Motorrad India is growing at a nice pace but one area where it lacks as compared to its rivals is its thin service network. The main rivals for the 310 twins include the likes of KTM 390 Duke, TVS RR 310 and more. The 2020 year did return a very positive sales report for the BMW India Group who managed to sell a total of 9,167 units under its three brands; BMW Motorrad, MINI and BMW India(cars).
