2021 BMW M5 & M5 Competition revealed

BMW has introduced the new updated 2021 BMW M5 and M5 Competition with prices in Germany starting at EUR 120,900 for the BMW M5 and EUR 129,900 for the BMW M5 Competition and is expected to go on sale in August 2020. The new 2021 BMW M5 and M5 Competition features a newly refreshed exteriors as well as new features on the interiors, but the carries forward the powerful powertrain from its predecessor.

On the exterior, the 2021 BMW M5 and M5 Competition feature a new kidney grille that extends into the front apron and comes with M Specific double bars in high gloss black, adaptive air inlets, M5 Competition badge, new meshed air dam with adaptive cruise control radar, newly designed front bumper, new LED headlamp units with BMW LaserLight’s new Dynamic Laser Matrix Beam, L-shaped LED tube daytime running lights, muscular bonnet design with raised ridges, rounded wheel arches, 20-inch M Double-Spoke twin-tone alloy wheels, side gill in high gloss black with M5 Competition badge, high gloss black ORVM housing, L-shaped densely illuminated 3D design LED tail lamps, high gloss black lip spoiler, redesigned rear bumper with black finish rear apron diffuser insert, quad tipped M Specific exhaust outlets and M5 Competition on the rear deck.

On the interiors, the 2021 BMW M5 and the M5 Competition feature new Merino full leather upholstery sports seats, a larger 12.3-inch central infotainment system with extended Sport and Track mode operating concept, new setup and M mode buttons on the central tunnel, multifunction steering wheel, digital colour instrumentation, M view heads-up display, driver assistance system and more.

In the engine department, both the BMW M5 and M5 Competition are powered by a 4.4-litre V-eight-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that develops 600 Hp of power and 700 Nm of torque on the M5 while the M5 Competition is tuned to deliver 625 Hp of power and 750 Nm of torque. The engine is matched to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and flap-controlled dual-branch exhaust system with M Sound Control button. The power is delivered to the road via an M xDrive all-wheel-drive & Active M Differential with a rear-wheel bias. The M5 also comes with configurable dampers & steering along with new dampers for the BMW M5 Competition. Both the BMW M5 and BMW M5 Competition are equipped as standard with M compound brakes. 

The BMW M5 and BMW M5 Competition are offered in five new paint finishes – new Brands Hatch Grey and new Motegi Red metallic along with Tanzanite Blue II metallic, Aventurine Red II metallic and the matt finish Frozen Bluestone metallic.
