2020 Yamaha FZ 25 & FZS 25 launched starting AT INR 1.52 lakhs

Yamaha Motor India has revealed the prices on the brand’s quarter-litre roadster the 2020 Yamaha FZ 25 and the FZS 25 which has been updated to match BS6 emission compliance. The brand had introduced the 2020 model back in February and the motorcycles were due for a launch in April 2020 but due to the ongoing pandemic the launch schedule has been delayed and the prices have been finally revealed.

The 2020 Yamaha FZ 25 has been launched at INR 1.52 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi and the Yamaha FZS 25 is priced at INR 1.57 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The FZ 25 is offered in Metallic Black and Racing Blue while the FZS 25 comes with new aggressive graphics, rim stripes and new international colours – Dark Matte Blue, Patina Green and White Vermillion, the first two of which get Gold finish alloy wheels.

In terms of styling, the 2020 model does not offer a lot of changes except for the new colours, a refreshed headlamp unit, a new belly pan, revised instruments console, engine kill sensor on the side stand and knuckle guards on the 2020 FZS 25. Apart from this the new 2020 model only receives a new BS6 emissions-compliant powertrain.

The 2020 Yamaha FZ 25 and the FZS 25 are powered by a BS6 compliant 249cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke 2-valve SOHC fuel-injected engine that produces 20.8 PS of power and 20.1 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed transmission. The performance is nearly identical to the BS4 predecessor but the new BS6 motorcycle weighs 1 kg more than the BS4 which could be due to the heavier catalytic convertor system.

In terms of competition, the Yamaha FZ 25 and the FZS 25 contest with rivals such as the newly launched Bajaj Dominar 250 priced at INR 1.60 lakhs ex-showroom but is powered by a 27 PS/23.5 Nm liquid-cooled motor and other quarter-litre segment motorcycles such as the Suzuki Gixxer 250, KTM 250 Duke and the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and the Svartpilen 250.
