With a total of 6 new models to go on sale, Triumph has revealed the 2020 version of their Tiger 900. This new bike will replace the current Triumph Tiger 800 series and the 2020 variants include the Tiger 900, Tiger 900 GT, Tiger 900 GT Low, Tiger 900 GT Pro, Tiger 900 Rally and Tiger 900 Rally Pro. As the name suggests the rally models will be more off-road specific while the GT variants will be dual-purpose touring machines.
Powering the 2020 Triumph Tiger 900 will be an 888cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, in-line 3-cylinder, 12-valve motor producing 93.9 HP of power @ 8750 RPM and 87 Nm of torque @ 7250 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike will sport a 3×1 exhaust system with a side-mounted end can. The bike is built around a tubular steel chassis with a bolt-on rear subframe and an aluminum alloy twin-sided swing arm.
In the suspension department, the base Tiger 900 will get a 45mm USD front fork from Marzocchi, the GT & GT Pro models will get a 45mm Marzocchi USD fork with damping adjustment and the Rally & Rally Pro models will get a fully adjustable 45mm Showa USD fork. At the bake, the base Tiger 900 will have a Marzocchi preload adjustable monoshock, the GT will have a Marzocchi preload and rebound damping adjustment, the GT Pro will have preload and electronic rebound damping Marzocchi monoshock and finally the Rally & Rally Pro models will get adjustable Showa forks for preload and electronic rebound damping.
Braking hardware includes top class Brembo Stylema 4-piston monoblock calipers with 320mm dual discs on the front and a 254mm Brembo monoblock single-pison caliper at the rear. The bikes get dual-channel ABS as standard but additionall get cornering ABS on all except the base Tiger 900.
GT Pro and Rally Pro models of the Tiger 900 also get a bi-directional quickshifter, heated seats and TPMS system. The Tiger 900 comes with up to 6 riding modes including Rain, Road, Sport, Off-Road, Off-Road Pro and Individual. The base model only gets rain and road modes though. There’s also anti-stall function on the off-road modes to help you get out of tricky situations.
We expect Triumph to launch the new Tiger 900 in India by early-2020.
