2020 Triumph Street Triple starts road testing

If you love fast naked street bikes, you know that the Triumph Street Triple is a lovely motorcycle. Consider the Street Triple RS, and that takes the game a notch higher. Now, spyshots have emerged online hinting that the British bike manufacturer is all set to refresh the Street Triple range of motorcycle. The 2019-20 Street Triple could get lighter, more efficient, more powerful and emission compliant for the future.

We expect Triumph to reveal this new Street Triple at the INTERMOT or EICMA shows in 2019.

The bike is clearly seen with new updated and sleek headlamps. While they retain the dual headlamp design, you can notice the new LED DRLs which look like eyebrows. The bike looks almost production ready and the new tank shrouds, new fly screen, new rear panel are noticed. However, the fuel tank, rear sub-frame, chassis section remain similar, but could be tweaked.

The update is primarily to meet the upcoming Euro 5 emission norms. At the moment, the Triumph Street Triple is powered by a 765cc, liquid-cooled, in-line 3-cylinder, 4-stroke petrol motor powering 111 BHP of power and 73 Nm of torque in the R & S variants while the Street Triple RS has a bumped up power and torque output of 121 BHP and 77 Nm. The Street Triple features traction control, riding modes, ABS, slipper assist clutch.

In India, the Street triple S has been priced at INR 9.19 lakh while the Street Triple RS asks for INR 11.13 lakh, ex-showroom. Both the bikes feel very quick to ride and handle compared to competition. Of course the come at a cost compared to Japanese rivals, but swing a leg on the Street Triple, and you will find the higher price tag to be justified. Things are only expected to get better with this update on the cards…
