Our detailed review for the 2020 Tata Harrier is coming out soon. In typical fashion, we will have detailed video reviews out for the updated model helping you understand all the changes and improvements on this 5-seater SUV. The BS6 compliant Tata Harrier prices start from INR 13.69 lakh and go all the way up to INR 20.25 lakh.
The biggest change on the 2020 Tata Harrier is the engine. The SUV now gets a BS6 compliant, Kryotec 170 motor. This is a 2.0L, FCA-sourced, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor producing 170 PS of peak power @ 3750 RPM and 350 Nm of peak torque @ 1700 – 2500 RPM matched to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The automatic gearbox is sourced from the Hyundai Tucson and the brand claims a mileage figure of 16.35 kmpl for the MT and 14.63 kmpl for the AT variants. Tata Motors will be offering a total of 9 manual gearbox variants and 7 automatic gearbox variants with the 2020 Harrier.
For building more confidence in the brand and the product, Tata Motors is offering a 5-year / unlimited km warranty on the 2020 Harrier for an additional amount of INR 25,960. This additional warranty package will cover engine and engine management parts, AC unit, gearbox and transmission parts, fuel pump and fuel system, driver information system, etc. Tata Motors will also cover any malfunction of the clutch or suspension of the 2020 Harrier up to 50,000 kms. This should surely help gain more trust of the potential SUV buyer.
Apart from this, with the new 6-speed automatic gearbox, Tata Motors is claiming savings of up to INR 3 – 4 lakh compared to competition with petrol automatic options. If your daily car running cycle is around 40 – 50 km, and in such a scenario over a period of 4 years, you will have significant savings with the 2020 Harrier diesel automatic. A diesel automatic car is also expected to result in a higher resale value, should a customer desire to upgrade.
