2020 Suzuki Access 125 BS6 scooter revealed

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Suzuki has revealed their BS6 version of the Access 125 scooter for the Indian market. This is the first BS6 compliant product from the Japanese two-wheeler brand, and the price would be announced in January 2020. Suzuki will slowly transition all their products with a BS6 motor before the deadline of 31st March 2020. The Access 125 is a very popular product for Suzuki in India, hence it has received the preferential treatment to be the first BS6 product rolling out from the factory.

Powering the BS6 compliant Suzuki Access 125 would be the same 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor but now with fuel-injection. This motor willl produce 8.7 PS of power @ 6750 RPM and 10 Nm of torque @ 5500 RPM matched to the same CVT automatic gearbox. It is interesting to note that the power has gone up and the torque has dropped with this BS6 update; unlike other two-wheelers where both power and torque figures have gone down. Suzuki now offers an Eco Assist Illumination which will allow the rider to have the right throttle input to get higher fuel efficiency. The new motor will also deliver smoother power and riding experience along with having lesser emissions. The BS6 Suzuki Access 125 will also come with an external fuel filler cap for convenience. Other new features includes a new LED headlamp. For safety, as per the segment standard, the Access 125 will come with combi-brake system. The updated model for 2020 will come with a longer seat, larger foot board area, larger under seat storage, and a new easy start system. There will be chrome accents, new body decals, new colours and an LED tail lamp as well to attract buyers.

For staying connected on the go, the BS6 Suzuki Access 125 will come with a USB DC charging point as well.

We expect pricing of the 2020 Suzuki Access 125 BS6 to be higher than the BS4 model by roughly INR 8,000 – 10,000 on-road.
