2020 Nissan Magnite Turbo CVT & MT Drive Review

Nissan’s all-new B-SUV is ready to make its market debut on 2nd December 2020. The bookings on the new SUV will begin as soon and the price is announced and customers will also be able to view the Nissan Magnite in flesh at all Nissan dealerships across India. The Designed in Japan but Made in India Made for India B-SUV will be produced at the brand’s Oragadam production facility in Chennai and will be exported to key emerging markets under the Nissan NEXT strategy.  

Powering the Nissan Magnite is are two petrol motors – a BS6 emission-compliant B4D 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder dual VVT petrol engine producing 72 PS of power and 92 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. Secondly, an HRA0 1.0-litre three-pot Turbo-Petrol mill producing 100 Hp of power and 160 Nm of torque on the 5-speed manual gearbox and 152 Nm of torque on the optional X-TRONIC CVT automatic gearbox. The naturally-aspirated motor claims to return a fuel efficiency of 18.75 kmpl and the turbo-petrol engine claims 20 kmpl with the manual gearbox and 17.7 kmpl with the CVT automatic. 

The Nissan Magnite measures 3994mm long, 1758mm wide, 1572mm tall, gets 2500mm of the wheelbase, 205mm of the ground clearance, gets 336mm of boot space and a 40-litre fuel tank capacity. On the outside, the Nissan Magnite features a large imposing grille typical of Datsun design, sleek and sharp LED headlamps, L-shaped daytime running lights on the bumper, a silver skid plate, a raised bonnet, eagle-beak taillamps, raked rear windshield, muscular wheels arches with plastic claddings, functional roof rails, diamond-cut alloy wheels and power-folding & adjustable ORVMs. 

On the inside, the Nissan Magnite features a push-button engine start/stop, fully digital instruments cluster, an 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, wireless smartphone charging, 360-degree camera and safety features such as Airbags, ABS and Vehicle Dynamic Control. 

The Nissan Magnite competes in the sub4-metre category that includes the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and the Toyota Urban Cruiser.
