While car launch plans for almost every manufacturer were pushed ahead because of the COVID-19 pandemic, things are slowly getting back to normal. Nissan India has shared teaser images of their all-new B-SUV which is slated for a launch in the second half of 2020-21. The brand will have a world debut stage set for this all-new compact-SUV on July 16th, 2020. This new SUV was first going to be a Datsun product, but will now be launched under the Nissan brand as Datsun will shut shop in the near future. Nissan India claims that this new B-SUV will be filled with latest tech.
As we know, this is a compact-SUV, so it will be under 4 metres in length. The ideal rival for this new Nissan B-SUV is going to be the Renault Triber. Nissan has taken take multiple cues from their iconic SUV range which includes the Kicks, Patrol, Pathfinder, Armada, X-Trail, Juke and Qashqai for the development of this new SUV.
The new teaser images reveal an all-new front grille which does connect with the Datsun design, a healthy dose of chrome, full LED headlamps, elongated LED DRLs, faux skid plates in silver, healthy dose of body cladding, dual-tone diamond cut alloy wheels, silver accents on the side skirt, roof rails, normal door handles on all 4 doors, typical SUV silhouette, rear roof spoiler and red contrast accents on multiple surfaces.
This all-new Nissan B-SUV could be named as the Magnite and will slot below the Kicks. For starters, the car is expected to be made available only with a petrol engine option, and we also expect a CVT gearbox to be on offer. Based on the CMF-A+ platform, this all-new SUV is also expected to bring modular seating configuration to the table, just like the Triber.
Pricing for this new Nissan B-SUV is expected to be in the range of INR 4.7 – 7 lakh, ex-showroom. This will clearly undercut the compact-SUV segment and offer more value to customers who are smitten by the SUV flavour.
