Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield recently updated its most popular model the Classic 350 to the new BS6 emission norms. The updated variant now comes with an Electronic Fuel Injection, tubeless tyres on the alloy wheel version, low fuel level warning indicator, side stand sensor with engine cut-off and new paint schemes.
Now, a test mule of the next generation Classic 350 has been spotted testing sans camouflage which shows more details of the motorcycle’s exterior. The test bike spotted was seen with a tall windscreen and newly designed alloy wheels, where the windscreen could be offered as optional accessories. In the styling department, the next-gen bike will be getting a refreshed overall look, a new analogue-digital instrument console, new switchgear and it is being speculated that the manufacturer will be bringing in a new 350cc engine which is likely to have an Over-Head Cam system.
Currently, the Classic 350 employs a 346cc, Single cylinder 4 stroke, air-cooled Unit Construction Engine (UCE) which has been upgraded to BS6 standards. The fuel is supplied through an Electronic Fuel Injection system and the ignition system is an Electronic ignition via an ECU. The engine produces a maximum power of 19.1 bhp @ 5250 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm @ 4000 rpm mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox and wet multi-plate clutch. With the new fuel injected motor brings-in improvement in power delivery and refinement.
Royal Enfield will be discontinuing the 500cc UCE which is on the Classic 500, Thunderbird and Bullet. The brand has announced a commemorative End of Production Limited Edition motorcycle called the ‘Classic 500 Tribute Black Limited Edition’. The Limited Edition Royal Enfield Classic 500 Tribute Black Limited Edition will come in a Black/Gold paint theme along with an ‘End of Build’ serial numbered plaque, making it unique to its owner. The 500cc engined Royal Enfield motorcycles will be discontinued from the retail sale from 31st March 2020 but, the brand will provide its owner’s with service and spares across all dealerships in India.
