2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class gets new 2.0L turbo-petrol engine

Mercedes-Benz has updated the C Class with a new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and dropped the 1.5-litre 48V petrol-hybrid engine from the line-up. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz C Class starts from INR 40.90 lakh ex-showroom for the C200 Prime trim variant and INR 46.54 lakh ex-showroom for the C200 Progressive trim variant in the BS6 petrol avatar. 

In terms of styling and design, the C Class petrol retains the styling and equipment from the predecessor and features a high performance LED headlamp units with automatic light intensity adjustment, double slated grille with a large three-pointed star in the centre, a wide air dam and air intakes that flank the bumper. The C Class features a long raised bonnet with character lines on the shoulder, chrome window beltline, rounded wheel arches, 17-inch alloy wheels, a sloping rear end with LED tail lamp units. 

On the inside, the C200 comes with Mercedes-Benz Avantgarde interiors featuring a multilayered dashboard with satin silver accents, rounded air-conditioning vents, a large central tunnel with wooden embellishments, toggle style silver finished knurled switches, rotary type dynamic select program selector, rounded control mounted steering wheel,  fully digital instrument display console with Classic, Progressive and Sporty themes, wireless charging, 10.25-inch island type infotainment display with in-built GPS, and connectivity features, smartphone integration and ambient lighting. 

In the engine department, the Mercedes-Benz C200 is powered by a 2.0-litre in-line 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that produces 203 hp of power matched to a 9-speed G-Tronic automatic transmission that promises to deliver a balance of performance and fuel economy. The Mercedes-Benz C200 can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 7.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 239 kmph. 

The Mercedes-Benz C Class features multiple airbags, reverse parking assist, PRE-SAFE, cruise control, pedestrian protection with an active bonnet system, Mercedes-Benz emergency call system and other industry-standard safety features.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz C Class comes with six exterior paint options with three metallic – Selenite Grey, Cavansite Blue, Designo Hyancith Red and three non-metallic options – Polar White, Mojave Silver, Obsidian Black.
