2020 Mahindra Scorpio interiors snapped

The new Mahindra Scorpio codenamed ‘Z101’ has been spied on the outskirts of Chennai and the SUV is expected to make its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. The exteriors of the car were spied earlier and now, spy pictures of the SUV’s interiors have surfaced the internet.

The all-new Scorpio features a new dashboard design with a provision for a large touchscreen infotainment system. The new Scorpio is expected to get a 7.0-inch unit on the entry-level trims and the higher variants are expected to get a 9.0-inch unit. The infotainment system is likely to have connectivity features and is expected to integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is also speculated that the new Scorpio will share the instrument cluster, steering wheel,  gear knob and control stalks with the Marazzo MPV.

The new SUV will boast 7-seats and the third-row seats are also expected to be forward facing instead of the side facing jump seat design which is on the current model. The forward facing design will not only improve safety but also maximise comfort for passengers in the third row. The SUV is also expected to get a dual-zone climate control air-conditioning with AC vents in the second and third rows. Other features such as steering mounted controls, steering modes, colour MID, leather upholstered seats, soft touch panels, etc. are also expected on the new 2020 model.

The new Mahindra Scorpio has been redesigned completely, in terms of the chassis, body, and engine. The newly updated chassis and new body panels, give the new Scorpio a longer wheelbase and more cabin space as compared to the old design. Also the new body gives the SUV a less boxy look when looked from the side profile.

In terms of safety, the new Mahindra Scorpio is expected to get dual front airbags, seat belt reminder on the driver and co-driver, ABS with EBD, ESP, disc brakes on all four wheels, reverse parking sensor, over speed alert and more as standard across all models.

The engine powering the SUV is expected to be a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, diesel motor producing 170 HP of power and 400 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional automatic transmission.

The new Mahindra Scorpio will compete with the likes of the Tata Harrier and MG Hector in India.
