Jaguar Land Rover India has just launched the model year 2020 Discovery Sport in India at the price of INR 57.06 lakh ex-showroom. The new Discovery Sport comes with new exterior and interior features and a BS6 compliant powertrain. The 2020 Discovery Sport is offered in two variant options – S and R-Dynamic SE.
On the exterior, the Land Rover Discovery Sport features new LED headlights with daytime running lights and animated directional turn indicators. The Discovery Sport also features a large hexagonal mesh grille, air intakes that flank the bumper a skid plate and a large air dam on the lower section of the front bumper. The bonnet displays a ‘DISCOVERY’ moniker on the shutline which gives the Discovery Sport and muscular appearance. Over to the sides, the 2020 Discovery Sport comes with 18-inch 5 split alloy wheels, muscular wheel arches, and a character line that runs along its side. The rear of the car comes with LED tail lights with black inserts, ‘DISCOVERY’ badging on the tailgate and a diffuser style skid plate.
The interiors of the 2020 Discovery Sport features a 10.2-inch Touch Pro infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, back-lit illuminated air-conditioning with rotary controls, ‘SportShift’ gear selector, 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display, fixed panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, cabin air ionisation, adjustable seats with massage function, 4G WiFi hotspot and ‘ClearSight Rear View Mirror’ which uses the rear-facing HD camera and displays the feed on a HD screen integrated into the mirror so that the driver can get an unobstructed view of the rear.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is offered with two BS6 emissions-compliant Ingenium powertrain options:-
- 2.0-litre Turbocharged Diesel engine that produces 177 hp of power and 430 Nm of torque.
- 2.0-litre Turbocharged Petrol engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that produces 245 hp of power and 365 Nm of torque.
The Discovery Sport is built on the Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA) platform and the Discovery Sport features Terrain Response 2 with features like an All-Wheel-Drive system, Hill Descent Control, All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVBB) and All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) traction and braking systems. The Discovery Sport also gets a wading depth of 600mm.
Land Rover has begun delivering the 2020 Discovery Sport in the diesel option with the ‘S’ trim priced at INR 57.06 lakh and ‘R-Dynamic SE’ trim priced at INR 60.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol model 2020 Discovery Sport will be announced separately.
