After years of waiting, KTM has finally revealed the 390 Adventure motorcycle for the world. Yes, this bike will launch in India as early as December 2019, at the India Bike Week. The KTM 390 Adventure which is revealed is in a road-biased version for now, and the off-road spec ‘R’ variant isn’t on offer at the moment. Compared to the KTM 390 Duke, which is the donor bike, the KTM 390 Adventure looks a lot different and does mean business when it comes to touring and off-roading.
Powering the 2020 KTM 390 Adventure is the same 373.2cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke motor with a wet-sump and 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch. The bike has a ride-by-wire system and comes with a dual-channel ABS setup which has off-road mode and can be completely disengaged as well. The engine is now Euro-5 / BS6 compliant, the first KTM model to be emission compliant in India for the future. This engine will produce 43 HP of power and 37 Nm of torque.
Additions include smartphone connectivity with map directions shown on the digital speedometer and a charging socket under the speedometer. Interesting bits of the KTM 390 Adventure is the dimensions. The bike has a super high seat height of 855mm and the ground clearance is a very healthy 200mm. The KTM 390 Adventure has a dry weight of 158 kg, 14.5L fuel tank capacity, front suspension travel of 170mm, rear suspension travel of 177mm, single front disc brake of 320mm and a single rear disc of diameter 230mm. The bike continues to ride on a power coated steel trellis chassis. As you can see in the images, the bike gets multi-spoke alloy wheels and the ‘R’ spec model could get spoked rims.
The bike will rival the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW Motorrad G 310 GS. Expect the 2020 KTM 390 Adventure to be priced around INR 3 lakh, ex-showroom. KTM will offer the 390 Adventure in India in an orange and white body paint option.
