The KTM 390 Adventure test mules have been spotted testing numerous times in India and abroad and now for the first time, spy shots of a near production ready bike testing in Europe have surfaced and the design is quite similar to the KTM 790 Adventure.
The KTM 390 Adventure may have two variants to it where the earlier models were spotted in a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, and the new version which was spotted recently came with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels leading us to believe that there may be an ‘R’ version with more off-road capabilities and a standard variant as seen on the international KTM 790 Adventure.
The KTM 390 Adventure will use a heavily reworked chassis, and not similar to the current split-frame seen on the 390 Duke. The engine is expected to be an updated version of the 373cc engine that is currently used on the 390 Duke and RC 390. While the update may include some internal changes, the exhaust with the new catalytic converter could take a miss on this version. The India-specific 390 Adventure may get a BSVI compliant engine from the day of its launch and may see a new larger catalytic converter unit. The bike is expected to be powered the 373.2cc, single-cylinder, four valves, DOHC motor producing a maximum power of 43.5 BHP @ 9000 RPM and 37 Nm of peak torque @ 7000 RPM coupled with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper assist clutch, but the engine will be tuned differently.
The 390 Adventure is expected to feature all the latest bells and whistles such as a colour TFT instrumentation console with connectivity features, multi-function switch-gear, all the latest electronics, LED headlights and tail lights, KTM branded luggage bags and other PowerParts from KTM as accessories.
The KTM 390 Adventure will have different suspension hardware with long travel suspension. Of course it will continue with a USD front fork and rear monoshock. Even the rear swing arm, rear subframe, steering rake, and other such intricate details will be unique to the 390 Adventure.
KTM will most definitely debut the 390 Adventure at the EICMA show in Milan later in 2019. The surprise however is that KTM might also bring a new 390 Duke and RC 390 on sale as both these bikes have also been spotted on test. And it makes sense to bring all the 390 siblings with the updated BSVI engine out on the same time and kill the competition with their VFM quotient.
Spyshots also reveal a new split design LED tail lamp, similar LED headlamp to the current 390 Duke, body design similar to the KTM 790 Adventure, knobby tyres, split seats, windscreen and wind deflectors, full size exhaust, knuckle guards, spoked & alloy wheel variants, top box mounts, etc.
