Kawasaki has officially announced the new & improved Z900 sportsbike for the Indian market. Now with a Euro-5 / BS6 compliant engine, the Z900 will be priced between INR 8.5 – 9 lakh ex-showroom, which makes it roughly 80,000 – 1,00,000 more expensive than the current model on sale. While this is a significant jump in asking price, Kawasaki will offset this hike with new features for this roadster motorcycle. Expect the bikes to reach Indian showrooms by Q1 of 2020 and once the old stock of the BS4 Z900 is cleared from the dealer inventory. If you don’t care much about the environment and the new features, now is the right time to get some good deals on the BS4 Z900. Kawasaki will launch the 2020 Z900 in 2 colour options as seen below (Grey + black + green & black + red).
Changes on the 2020 Kawasaki Z900 include new LED headlamp with LED DRL, new Sugomi styling treatment, new exhaust sound engineering, stronger chassis, new suspension setup, LED turn indicators, 4.3″ TFT colour display speedo cluster with bluetooth connectivity, traction control, power modes, integrated riding modes, Dunlop Sportsmax Roadsport 2 tyres, new body colours and graphics, new front fly screen, redesigned tank shroud and changes to the engine of course.
Powering the 2020 Z900 with the Euro-5 / BS6 engine is the same 948cc, liquid-cooled, in-line 4-cylinder, 4-stroke petrol motor producing 123 BHP of power and 98.6 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper assist clutch. The new electronics package on the Z900 justifies the hike in pricing and gets it on par with competition which felt advanced even a few years back. The bike now has a kerb weight of 212.05 kg.
The Z900 is a very comfortable motorcycle to ride, and has a very smooth riding nature as well. However, the heavy weight of the motorcycle makes it tricky for newbie riders and this is where the Triumph Street Triple excels in comparison.
