2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 revealed, looks like ZX-6R

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Surprise! Kawasaki has yet again updated the Ninja 650 sportsbike and this time, it looks sharper than ever. The bike now gets styling inspired from the Ninja 400 & Ninja ZX-6R and looks very sporty especially from the front profile. The bike has not yet been announced for India officially, but we expect the new Ninja 650 to be available in our showrooms by early 2020 as quite some inventory is still left to be sold out.

The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 now comes with a new front fairing, new LED headlamps, new clear lens windscreen, new mounts for rear view mirrors, new side body fairing, new seat for pillion, new Dunlop tyres and new body decals along with a KRT paint scheme. The highlight of the 2020 Ninja 650 is that Kawasaki is offering a TFT colour display instrument cluster with bluetooth connectivity. The display has a light sensor and riders can select between negative and positive backlit as per their choice.

The chassis components remain unchanged, and even the engine which is very reliable stays the same with the bike now having a kerb weight of 193 kg which is 3 kg lighter than the current model sold in India.

In India, the current Kawasaki Ninja 650 is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, parallel-twin, DOHC, 8-valves motor producing 68 PS of peak power @ 8000 RPM and 65.7 Nm of peak torque @ 6500 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper assist clutch. The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 continues with the underbelly exhaust system and has a dual disc brake setup on the front wheel and a single disc at the rear backed by a dual-channel ABS system.

The Kawasaki Ninja 650 is a very reliable middle-weight motorcycle in the sports touring category and this new model is expected to boost sales thanks to the sharper looks.
