It was revealed at the motor show in China last month, and these new images share all that you need to know about the 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift. Although a mid-life makeover, the 2020 Hyundai Verna looks all new with the changes to the front fascia and the reworked rear profile. Another major highlight on the 2020 Hyundai Verna would be the BS6 compliant engines under the hood. We’re expecting the 2020 Hyundai Verna to be revealed at the Auto Expo around February next year.
At the front, the new Verna will get a headlamp unit with 3 slots for the main beam with projectors, turn indicator and pilot lamps. Of course there would be LED DRLs and the headlamp also gets a smoked effect with some chrome accents. The front grille gets a healthy dose of chrome, and looks just as sharp as the Hyundai Elantra. There are no fog lamps to be seen here, but most definitely they would be positioned at the lower end of the bumper where we see the air vents in these pictures. The front fascia also noticed a new bonnet profile with bolder crease lines. The side profile has changes seen only with the snazzy dual tone alloy wheels, mostly 16″. At the rear end, the biggest change is the red reflector strip running across the width of the tail gate connecting the 2 LED tail lamp units. The rear bumper has a diffuser kind of effect with silver accents and a rear fog lamp as well. The reflector placement on the rear bumper with the angular cuts around also looks very cool.
On the inside, there are 2 big changes. The 2020 Hyundai Verna will come with a full digital speedometer cluster which will be shared with the all-new Creta & i20 which are also expected to be launched in 2020. The new Verna will also have a floating touchscreen infotainment screen with colour display, unlike the current one. These 2 feature additions are going to make the biggest difference. There would also be other creature comfort elements added to the top trims.
In 2020, Hyundai will introduce BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines with the Verna sedan. The 1.6L diesel will be replaced with the 115 HP 1.5L diesel motor we also see in the Kia Seltos. This 4-cylinder diesel motor will come matched to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The petrol variants could either get a 1.5L petrol or a 1.4L turbo-petrol engine matched to 6-speed manual gearboxes on both and an option of CVT & 7-speed DCT respectively.
The Hyundai Verna has always been a feature rich sedan in the Indian market, and the 2020 facelift is expected to raise the bar in the segment.
