Now what you see here in images is a facelift model of the Hyundai Verna, and it looks very radical compared to the current model. It is surprising how much Hyundai has managed to change the Verna with just a facelift on this model, similar to what they accomplished with the Elantra sedan. This updated Hyundai Verna will come to India in 2020, and expect a market debut sometime early next year, possibly at the Auto Expo.
The front end styling now houses a super large chrome grille which adds a lot of character. Like it or not, it is the most striking change on the exterior profile of the facelift model. Apart from that, you have new all-LED headlamps which are pulled back and look stylish as well. The bumper is new and so is the fog lamp housing area where you see some satin chrome accents in these pictures. Towards the rear end, the 2020 Verna will have wrap around tail lamps, all-LEDs which also have a strip connecting the two ends, running across the width of the tail gate. This looks a bit overdone, but a big change nevertheless. The rear bumper is also super sharp and edgy to look at. Of course, the new model will come with a new design diamond cut alloy wheels.
On the inside, we expect subtle changes like new upholstery, new interior colour scheme, new touchscreen infotainment with Hyundai’s connected technology and a few tech additions like wireless charging, etc.
The other big change for the 2020 Hyundai Verna would be the new engines. With BSVI emission norms kicking in, the Hyundai Verna will adopt the engines from the Kia Seltos. So expect a 1.5L, 115 PS petrol and diesel engine options. This will bring to the table a 6-speed automatic gearbox for the diesel trim and a CVT automatic for the petrol variant. We don’t think Hyundai will introduce the 1.4L, 140 PS turbo-petrol on the Verna sedan.
Most definitely, prices for the top trims would be higher.
