South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai unveiled its new generation IX25 at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show which is also marketed as the Hyundai Creta here in India. The IX25 will be sold in the Chinese market later this year. And now, the Hyundai IX25 has already been spotted on South Korean roads without any camouflage.
The new IX25 will be the second generation 2020 Hyundai Creta for India. The new 2020 Hyundai Creta / IX25 has new unconventional design language for its exteriors. It has a split type headlight design, recently only seen on the Hyundai Venue and the Tata Harrier, with the headlight sitting on the bumper and LED daytime running lights placed flush with the bonnet shut-line with a prominent chrome-accented grille. The fog lamps are placed low and house cornering lamps. The tail lights are also very unique split type with a horizontal central auxiliary stop light and bumper-integrated reverse lamps with rear fog lamps.
On the interior, the 2020 Hyundai Creta / IX25 gets a large floating Tesla-like touchscreen infotainment system with feather touch button on the sides and it comes equipped with Hyundai’s BlueLink technology. The cabin has a minimalist design with horizontal central air-conditioning vents. The 2020 Hyundai Creta seats 5 people and there is speculation that Hyundai will bring a long wheelbase version with a seating capacity of 7 people by 2021.
The new 2020 Hyundai Creta / IX25 is expected to be powered by an all-new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines which are yet to be announced and will also power the new facelifted 2020 Hyundai Verna. Also, the 1.0-litre Kappa T-GDI petrol engine from the upcoming Hyundai Venue, which produces 120 PS of power and 171.6 Nm of torque coupled to a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) or 5-speed manual gearbox is expected to be offered on the petrol variant of the 2020 Creta / IX25.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to be launched by the end of this year or early next year in India and it will compete with the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks and Mahindra XUV300.
