As reported earlier, the new Hyundai i20 has been spotted on the Indian roads testing with a heavily camouflaged car. The car is being tested for its 2020 debut at the Auto Expo, which will be held in Delhi. The spied pictures only gave us a glimpse of the car and not much could be revealed about the front-end design, but it is speculated that Hyundai will be giving the car a substantial makeover. And now a test mule of the same car has been spotted in Europe and the spy pictures reveal, the front end design of the new i20.
The front end of the 2020 Hyundai i20 gets a hexagonal grille along with wraparound headlights with projector lamps. The front bumper also integrates fog lamps in a triangular black surround, which could also be an air duct. The new i20 doesn’t get a rear quarter glass but the European-spec test mule was seen with a sunroof which was not seen on the India-spec test mule.
The current Hyundai i20 in India is powered by two engine options:-
A third 1.0-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine is also expected to be employed on the new i20. The engine has been highly localised for the Hyundai Venue and Hyundai is likely to use this engine on the 2020 i20 to balance the economies of scale.
The i20 is expected to be launched in July next year and by then the car will have new upgraded BSVI compliant engines.
